Description

The Anzio is a travel backpack cut from full grain leather and built around a single generous main compartment. The shape is plain on purpose. Nothing on the outside asks for attention, which is exactly why it works as well on a Tuesday commute as it does on a week away.

Inside there is room for a laptop, a notebook, a charger and the loose things that accumulate on a long day. The straps are set wide and carry weight across the shoulders rather than hanging off them, so a full bag still sits comfortably after a few hours.

Leather this heavy starts stiff and stays that way for a week or two. Then it softens where you fold it, darkens where your hand rests, and settles into a shape that is yours. Buy it once and it will outlast a decade of the nylon alternatives.

  • Full grain leather, unlined edges finished by hand
  • One large main compartment with padded laptop sleeve
  • Wide set shoulder straps for even weight distribution
  • Antique finish hardware
  • Darkens and develops patina with use

Shipping and Returns

US shipping is free on every order, with no minimum to reach. Your order is made up and dispatched within 1 to 3 business days, and usually arrives 5 to 7 days after that. You will receive a tracking link by email as soon as it ships. We ship within the United States only at the moment.

You have 30 days from delivery to return an item. It needs to be unused, in the same condition you received it, and in its original packaging. Return shipping is paid by you. Contact us first so we can send you the return address, as returns sent without a request cannot be accepted. One compartment, no maze

One compartment, no maze

Open it and there is one deep space with a padded sleeve down the back. No sub-dividers to fight, no zip you forget about. You pack it the way you would pack a bag rather than a filing cabinet, and everything is reachable from the top.
The bag for the early train

The bag for the early train

Loaded with a laptop, a charger and two days of clothes it still sits square on the back. The straps are set wide so the weight lands across the shoulders instead of hanging off them, which is the difference between an hour and a whole day.
It stops looking new quickly

Hide this thick starts stiff. Within a month the flap has learned where it folds, the straps have darkened where your hands go, and the base has taken the shape of whatever you carry most. That is not wear. That is the bag arriving.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size laptop fits?

The padded sleeve takes a standard 15 inch laptop comfortably, and a 16 inch will go in without the zip straining.

Is it good for flying?

Yes. It sits under a seat or in an overhead easily and the single compartment makes it quick to open at security.

Will the straps dig in when it is full?

They are cut wide for that reason. A full load spreads across the shoulder rather than concentrating on a narrow band.

Does it hold its shape when half empty?

It does. The leather is heavy enough that the bag stands up on its own rather than slumping.

How do I look after it?

Keep it dry, wipe it with a soft cloth and condition it two or three times a year. Let it dry at room temperature if it gets wet.

What leather do you use?

Full grain leather, the top layer of the hide, left unsanded so the natural grain stays intact. Several pieces use Crazy Horse leather, a waxed full grain finish that scratches into a patina rather than out of one.

Will the leather change over time?

Yes, and that is the point. Full grain darkens, softens and develops a patina shaped by how you carry it. No two pieces age the same way.

How do I care for it?

Keep it dry, wipe it with a soft cloth, and condition it two or three times a year. Store it out of direct sunlight. Avoid soaking it, and if it does get wet let it dry at room temperature rather than near heat.

How do I choose the right size?

Each listing says what the piece is built to carry, including laptop sizes where they apply. Compare that against the bag you use now, since it is a more reliable guide than a size label. If you are between two options, message us with what you carry and we will tell you which one fits.

Is the leather treated or sealed?

Only lightly. Heavy sealing is what stops leather from ageing, so the surface is left open enough to absorb oils from your hands and darken over time. That does mean it is not waterproof. Keep it out of standing water, and if it does get wet let it dry at room temperature.

Will the colour match the photographs?

Closely, but not exactly. Full grain leather takes dye differently across the hide, so tone and grain shift slightly from piece to piece, and screens render colour differently again. Treat the photographs as an honest guide rather than a swatch. That variation is a property of real leather, not a fault.
