Description

The Sabino is the work and study pack. Its main compartment was designed around books, papers, a laptop and a charger, which is a more specific brief than most backpacks are built to.

One exterior pocket handles what you need without stopping. Everything else sits inside, flat and stacked, rather than bunching at the bottom.

The aesthetics are deliberately restrained. Minimal shape, clean lines, no hardware you have to explain. It will look correct on a campus and correct in an office, which is not always the same bag.

  • Handmade from full grain leather
  • Main compartment shaped for books, papers and a laptop
  • Exterior quick access pocket
  • Contents lie flat rather than bunching
  • Minimal restrained design

Edges are where you can see the difference

Edges are where you can see the difference

A machine finished edge is sealed and uniform. A hand burnished one is rubbed down until the fibres compact and shine. It takes longer, it looks different, and it is the fastest way to tell how a bag was actually made.
Simple because it was made one at a time

Simple because it was made one at a time

One compartment, one sleeve, nothing extra. When someone is cutting and stitching each bag individually, every added pocket is real time, so what survives is what earns its place.
No two are the same

No two are the same

Grain, tone and the exact placement of natural marks vary from hide to hide. The photographs are honest but they are not a swatch, and the bag you get will be its own thing.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size laptop fits?

Up to 15 inches in the interior sleeve.

Is it really handmade?

Cut, stitched and edge finished by hand. You can see it most clearly at the edges and the stress points.

Will mine look like the photo?

Closely, not exactly. Real hide varies, and that variation is not a fault.

Is there much organisation inside?

One sleeve, deliberately. If you want compartments, look at the Castagno or the Orvieto.

How does it age?

Quickly at the straps and the grab handle, then the body follows over the first year.

What leather do you use?

Full grain leather, the top layer of the hide, left unsanded so the natural grain stays intact. Several pieces use Crazy Horse leather, a waxed full grain finish that scratches into a patina rather than out of one.

Will the leather change over time?

Yes, and that is the point. Full grain darkens, softens and develops a patina shaped by how you carry it. No two pieces age the same way.

How do I care for it?

Keep it dry, wipe it with a soft cloth, and condition it two or three times a year. Store it out of direct sunlight. Avoid soaking it, and if it does get wet let it dry at room temperature rather than near heat.

How do I choose the right size?

Each listing says what the piece is built to carry, including laptop sizes where they apply. Compare that against the bag you use now, since it is a more reliable guide than a size label. If you are between two options, message us with what you carry and we will tell you which one fits.

Is the leather treated or sealed?

Only lightly. Heavy sealing is what stops leather from ageing, so the surface is left open enough to absorb oils from your hands and darken over time. That does mean it is not waterproof. Keep it out of standing water, and if it does get wet let it dry at room temperature.

Will the colour match the photographs?

Closely, but not exactly. Full grain leather takes dye differently across the hide, so tone and grain shift slightly from piece to piece, and screens render colour differently again. Treat the photographs as an honest guide rather than a swatch. That variation is a property of real leather, not a fault.
