Description

The Salerno stands out through construction rather than decoration. The body is built from overlaid panels joined with stitched leather bars, which is a slower way to make a bag and a considerably stronger one.

There is a 15 inch laptop sleeve inside, alongside pockets positioned to keep devices from knocking against each other. It is a duffle that takes a laptop seriously.

The result is a bag that is genuinely sturdy rather than sturdy looking, and one that people tend to ask about. Buy it if you want the weekender that is not the same weekender everyone else has.

  • Handcrafted full grain leather
  • Overlaid panels with stitched leather bars
  • 15 inch laptop sleeve
  • Dedicated pockets for devices
  • Distinctive construction, highly durable

Anchors, not rivets

Anchors, not rivets

Where the handles meet the body is where a loaded duffle either holds or fails. These anchor points are double stitched and reinforced rather than riveted through, which is the slow way to build it and the way that lasts.
It opens the whole way

It opens the whole way

The zip runs the full length so the bag opens flat rather than gaping at one end. You pack it looking down into it, and you find things without emptying it onto a bed.
Trips show on it

Trips show on it

Overheads, car boots, station floors. A duffle takes contact everywhere at once, so it ages evenly rather than in one spot. Give it a year of real travel and it will look like it earned every mark.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it hold?

A comfortable long weekend.

Is the shoulder strap padded?

It is cut wide and adjustable, and it clips off entirely.

Will it fit in an overhead?

Packed moderately, yes.

Is the interior lined?

Yes, so clothes do not come out marked by the leather.

How is it different from the Marconi?

Very similar size. The Marconi carries end pockets; the Salerno is the plainer, more heavily reinforced build.

What leather do you use?

Full grain leather, the top layer of the hide, left unsanded so the natural grain stays intact. Several pieces use Crazy Horse leather, a waxed full grain finish that scratches into a patina rather than out of one.

Will the leather change over time?

Yes, and that is the point. Full grain darkens, softens and develops a patina shaped by how you carry it. No two pieces age the same way.

How do I care for it?

Keep it dry, wipe it with a soft cloth, and condition it two or three times a year. Store it out of direct sunlight. Avoid soaking it, and if it does get wet let it dry at room temperature rather than near heat.

How do I choose the right size?

Each listing says what the piece is built to carry, including laptop sizes where they apply. Compare that against the bag you use now, since it is a more reliable guide than a size label. If you are between two options, message us with what you carry and we will tell you which one fits.

Is the leather treated or sealed?

Only lightly. Heavy sealing is what stops leather from ageing, so the surface is left open enough to absorb oils from your hands and darken over time. That does mean it is not waterproof. Keep it out of standing water, and if it does get wet let it dry at room temperature.

Will the colour match the photographs?

Closely, but not exactly. Full grain leather takes dye differently across the hide, so tone and grain shift slightly from piece to piece, and screens render colour differently again. Treat the photographs as an honest guide rather than a swatch. That variation is a property of real leather, not a fault.
