Description

The Scrivano is a handmade full grain leather padfolio, 9 by 12 inches, sized around an A4 pocket that takes standard documents flat.

It holds a pad, papers and a pen without any of them curling at the corners, and it opens flat on a table so you are not fighting the cover while you write.

There is a quiet advantage to walking into a room with one of these instead of a loose folder. It says the meeting matters, without saying anything.

  • Handmade from full grain leather
  • Measures 9 by 12 inches
  • A4 document pocket
  • Pad and pen holders
  • Opens flat for writing

It lies flat and stays flat

It lies flat and stays flat

A padfolio that will not stay open is useless. This one is cut and lined so it lies flat from the first day rather than after a year of being forced, which means you can write in it without holding it down.
The pen loop is on the correct side

The pen loop is on the correct side

Small thing, constantly noticed. The loop sits where it does not end up under your writing hand, which is a detail most padfolios get wrong and nobody mentions until they have used one that gets it right.
It is the thing on the table

It is the thing on the table

In a meeting the padfolio is the object other people look at. Full grain leather that has darkened at the corners says something a plastic folder does not, and it says it without needing to be new.

Frequently Asked Questions

What pad size does it take?

A standard letter or A4 pad. Check the listing for exact dimensions.

Does it hold documents?

Yes, there are document slots alongside the pad holder.

Is a pad included?

Check the listing. The padfolio is the leather item.

Will it lie flat straight away?

Yes. That is built in rather than broken in.

How many cards does it hold?

Several, in slots sized for business cards.

What leather do you use?

Full grain leather, the top layer of the hide, left unsanded so the natural grain stays intact. Several pieces use Crazy Horse leather, a waxed full grain finish that scratches into a patina rather than out of one.

Will the leather change over time?

Yes, and that is the point. Full grain darkens, softens and develops a patina shaped by how you carry it. No two pieces age the same way.

How do I care for it?

Keep it dry, wipe it with a soft cloth, and condition it two or three times a year. Store it out of direct sunlight. Avoid soaking it, and if it does get wet let it dry at room temperature rather than near heat.

How do I choose the right size?

Each listing says what the piece is built to carry, including laptop sizes where they apply. Compare that against the bag you use now, since it is a more reliable guide than a size label. If you are between two options, message us with what you carry and we will tell you which one fits.

Is the leather treated or sealed?

Only lightly. Heavy sealing is what stops leather from ageing, so the surface is left open enough to absorb oils from your hands and darken over time. That does mean it is not waterproof. Keep it out of standing water, and if it does get wet let it dry at room temperature.

Will the colour match the photographs?

Closely, but not exactly. Full grain leather takes dye differently across the hide, so tone and grain shift slightly from piece to piece, and screens render colour differently again. Treat the photographs as an honest guide rather than a swatch. That variation is a property of real leather, not a fault.
