Description

The Sorrento is the large camera backpack, made for photographers who carry a working kit rather than a single body and lens.

It takes a body, several lenses and the accessories that go with them, protected inside a leather shell that looks nothing like camera gear. On a street or in a station, that discretion is worth as much as the padding.

It is built as an everyday carry bag first. The camera compartment is part of it rather than the whole of it, so on days you are not shooting it still works as a backpack.

  • Handmade full grain leather
  • Holds a body, multiple lenses and accessories
  • Protective padded camera section
  • Discreet exterior with no camera branding
  • Works as an everyday backpack

It takes a real kit

It takes a real kit

Two bodies or one body and a set of lenses, including something long. This is the large camera pack, built for the days you take everything rather than the days you take a camera.
Everything is where you put it

Everything is where you put it

The dividers move, so the layout is yours rather than the manufacturer's. Set it once for how you actually shoot and it stops being a bag you rummage in.
Leather, which no camera bag is

Leather, which no camera bag is

Every serious camera pack is black nylon with logos, which is a signal to anyone watching. This one is not, and it also happens to age into something you would carry when you are not shooting.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much gear does it hold?

Two bodies, or one body plus several lenses including a long one, with the dividers set for it.

Does a laptop fit?

Yes, there is a padded sleeve for a 15 inch machine.

Can I attach a tripod?

Yes, there are straps for it.

Is it heavy?

Loaded with a full kit, yes. Leather and gear are both heavy. The straps and back panel are built for it.

How is it different from the Fermo?

The Fermo is the mid size camera pack. The Sorrento is the large one.

What leather do you use?

Full grain leather, the top layer of the hide, left unsanded so the natural grain stays intact. Several pieces use Crazy Horse leather, a waxed full grain finish that scratches into a patina rather than out of one.

Will the leather change over time?

Yes, and that is the point. Full grain darkens, softens and develops a patina shaped by how you carry it. No two pieces age the same way.

How do I care for it?

Keep it dry, wipe it with a soft cloth, and condition it two or three times a year. Store it out of direct sunlight. Avoid soaking it, and if it does get wet let it dry at room temperature rather than near heat.

How do I choose the right size?

Each listing says what the piece is built to carry, including laptop sizes where they apply. Compare that against the bag you use now, since it is a more reliable guide than a size label. If you are between two options, message us with what you carry and we will tell you which one fits.

Is the leather treated or sealed?

Only lightly. Heavy sealing is what stops leather from ageing, so the surface is left open enough to absorb oils from your hands and darken over time. That does mean it is not waterproof. Keep it out of standing water, and if it does get wet let it dry at room temperature.

Will the colour match the photographs?

Closely, but not exactly. Full grain leather takes dye differently across the hide, so tone and grain shift slightly from piece to piece, and screens render colour differently again. Treat the photographs as an honest guide rather than a swatch. That variation is a property of real leather, not a fault.
